Epiphany Explorers Newsletter
Spring 2009
If
you have wanted to go on an Explorer’s trip, but aren’t sure, this is
the trip for you. Our trips are Family Field trips organized and
facilitated by Epiphany parents. You and your family get to learn
about great outdoor opportunities close to home and spend time with
your family, your children’s classmates and their parents. Paul
Mehalko has arranged a super end of the year trip to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park.
This state park is home to manatees and other Florida wildlife
that have been injured and cannot be returned to the wild. You
may come for any or all of the weekend. We will be cabin camping
at Caruth Camp
near the park. If you want to come for the day only and not camp,
meet us at Caruth Camp at 9:00 AM Saturday morning and we will go to
the park as a group.
When: Friday evening through Sunday morning, April 24-26
What
we will do: We will cabin camp at Caruth Camp for two nights.
Dinner on your own Friday night, Paul Mehalko will make a simple
breakfast Saturday morning. We will spend the day in the wildlife
park. You can buy lunch from the concessions in the park, and then back
to camp where Paul will fix a burger cookout followed by a campfire and
movie night. Paul will make another simple breakfast Sunday
morning. We will do a craft project with one of the camp staff
and then head home.
What it will cost: $50.00 per
family includes camping, meals in camp, admittance to the park, and the
craft project. You will be responsible for your lunch on Saturday
at the park concessions. Families coming in for the day will pay
$25.00
We want to come. What next? Call or e-mail
Bruce or Sandy Lyon (386) 719-6902 and let us know if you are coming
for the day or the weekend. If you are coming for the weekend,
bring your bedding, pillow and personal gear. The heated and
air-conditioned cabins have bunk beds. There is a nearby
bathhouse. With this small group, each family can opt for their
own cabin or share with another family with whom they are
comfortable. Final details and a map to the camp will be sent to
families that RSVP.
